Upright Vacuums

Upright Vacuums

Reliable, All-in-One Cleaning for Everyday Commercial Use

Upright vacuums from Grimeworks combine strong suction with a simple, self-contained design — no separate hose or canister to manage, just push and clean. For offices, schools, hotels, and retail spaces that need dependable daily vacuuming without the complexity of a backpack or canister system, an upright remains the workhorse of commercial floor care.

Our lineup is built primarily around Bissell's commercial upright line, with additional options from Koblenz, Prolux, and Sandia, spanning entry-level bagged models up to heavy-duty dual-motor machines and wide-area vacuums built for large carpeted spaces.

Choosing the Right Commercial Upright Vacuum

Motor Configuration — Dual-motor uprights use one motor for suction and a separate motor to drive the brush roll, delivering deeper carpet cleaning and more consistent results in high-traffic environments than a single-motor design.

Cleaning Path Width — Wider paths (16"-28" in our lineup) cover more floor per pass, cutting labor time in larger carpeted areas. Narrower paths offer better maneuverability in tighter commercial spaces.

Bagged vs. Bagless — Bagged uprights tend to maintain more consistent suction as the bag fills and offer cleaner disposal, which matters for dust containment and allergy-sensitive environments. Bagless dirt cup models lower ongoing bag costs but need more frequent filter attention.

Noise Level — Look for "quiet" or low-dBA rated models if vacuuming needs to happen during business hours in occupied spaces like offices, retail floors, or hotel corridors.

CRI Certification — The Carpet and Rug Institute's Seal of Approval (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) independently verifies a vacuum's soil removal, dust containment, and carpet fiber protection — worth checking for facilities where carpet appearance and longevity matter.

Getting the Most from Your Upright Vacuum

Empty Bags or Dirt Cups Frequently — Suction drops well before a bag or cup looks completely full; emptying proactively keeps cleaning performance consistent.

Check Brush Roll Height Settings — Adjusting height for carpet pile or hard floor protects both the vacuum's brush roll and the surface being cleaned.

Match Path Width to the Space — A 28-inch wide-area vacuum is efficient in open carpet but cumbersome in tight offices; a 12-13 inch model trades speed for maneuverability in smaller spaces.

Replace Belts and Filters on Schedule — Worn belts reduce brush roll agitation, and clogged filters reduce suction — both are inexpensive fixes that prevent bigger performance losses.
