HOST

HOST invented dry carpet extraction cleaning. The brand traces back to 1936, when founder Harry Rench and the Bigelow Sanford Company patented the first dry carpet cleaning powder — developed specifically to solve the problem of water damaging wool carpet. That original innovation grew into the HOST Dry Extraction Cleaning System, still manufactured today, decades before "encapsulation" cleaning existed as an industry term. As an authorized HOST dealer, Grimeworks carries the brand's full lineup of dry extraction machines, cleaning compounds, and genuine replacement parts.

Unlike every other carpet cleaning method in our catalog, HOST's system uses no water at all. A natural, absorbent cleaning compound is brushed into the carpet by counter-rotating brushes, where it attracts and traps soil, spots, and odors — then it's simply vacuumed back out. There's no wet drying time, no risk of over-wetting delicate fibers, and no soapy residue left behind to attract future dirt. Carpets are typically dry and ready to walk on again within about 20 minutes, compared to the hours required after standard wet extraction.

Our HOST catalog spans 21 products: carpet and upholstery cleaning machines, HOST's core Dry Extraction Cleaner and companion cleaning compounds, and a full range of genuine brushes, filters, and accessories to keep existing HOST equipment running at full performance.

Why Choose HOST Equipment

The Original Dry Carpet Cleaning System — HOST didn't just adopt dry extraction technology, the brand invented it, patenting the first dry carpet cleaning powder in the 1930s.

No Water, No Drying Time — Carpets are typically ready to walk on in about 20 minutes, compared to hours of drying after wet extraction — a real advantage for facilities that can't afford extended downtime.

Safe for Delicate and Natural Fibers — HOST's low-moisture system is safe for wool, sisal, and other natural fiber carpets and rugs that water-based cleaning can damage.

No Resoiling Residue — HOST was the first U.S. company to produce non-resoiling detergents for carpet cleaning, avoiding the sticky residue that standard soaps leave behind — residue that attracts dirt and causes carpets to resoil faster.

Green Seal Certified and WoolSafe Approved — Independently verified for environmental and fiber safety, manufactured in an EPA-registered facility.

80+ Years of Manufacturing Experience — Nearly 90 years designing and building dry extraction cleaning equipment and compounds in the USA.
